I thought I would write a short article that clients might find useful about choosing a wedding photographer.
Clients who have come to me are often wanting the felixibility of having their images supplied on disc. I use a DVD, purely because of the increased stroage capacity available which is necessary to cope with the larger file sizes og high resolution wedding photographs. This doesn't mean the disc should be played in a DVD player, it won't; the DVD should be viewed/accessed via a computer disc drive.
When choosing a wedding photographer, it is important to ask the following question: "Are the images supplied edited, full resolution and copyright free?" You need the answer to be Yes.
Several of my clients have told me about some of the pitfalls out there. For example, a wedding photographer will say "You get the photos on a disc." Well yes you do........ but then he or she supplied small low resolution thumbnails that are useless for printing or sharing.
Or....... the photographer would promise "You get all the wedding photographs on a disc." Yes, true........ but when they arrive the images are locked into something called a PDF slideshow. This allows you to view a slideshow of pictures, but you can't actually access the individual photos.
What you need your wedding photographer to supply are high resolution, editing, copy right free jpeg image files. This is what you get from White Petal Wedding Photography and many other reputable photographers; but it is still worth checking once you have shorlisted two or three wedding photographers.
I recently explained this to a prospective client and at the end of the phone call, he particularly thanked me for explaining this aspect of hiring a wedding photographer; so I've decided to blog this advice here.
If you have found this useful, please consider sharing this link with your friends.
